Salman Khan, one of the leading actors of Bollywood film industry, was born on 27 december,1965 in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, India. His full name is Abdul Rashid Salman Khan. He is the son of famous script writer Salim Khan. Salman has two brothers and two sisters. His brothers Sohail Khan and Arbazz Khan are also actors. Arpita, and Alvira Agnihotri are the sisters of salman. He was voted world's 7th best looking man and the best looking man in India by People Magazine, USA.
Salman's Acting career started with a supporting role in the film "Biwi Ho To Aisi" in 1988. His first movie as a lead character was "Maine Pyar Kiya" in 1989. It was a huge success and was one of the most grossing films in Bollywood history. This movie also brought him Filmfare Best Debut Award. It was also the debut of director Sooraj Barjatya. His second movie with the same director was "Hum Aapke Hain Koun" was also a big successful venture and still remails one of Indian highest grossing movies. Up until now Salman has acted in more than 60 movies and has won many awards for his stupendous performance. Some of his biggest hits are Saajan, Sanam Bewafa , Karan Arjun, Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam etc. According to critics his best performance so far is in the movie Tere Naam as Radhe Mohan. His recent releases were Baabul and Jaan-E-Mann. Around six of his films are in production including his first Hollywood movie, Marigold: An Adventure in India.
Salman is one of the most contraversial persons in the Bollywood film industry, though some of the people who know his very well say he is infact a very kind-hearted person. He is facing trail under four cases. In 1998 he spent about one week in jail after he was arrested for allegedly killing wild animals of protected category. He is said to have killed chinkaras and black bucks, which fall under the protected wild animal category. He is also a defendant in illegal possession of arms act. On september 28, 2002, he was in headlines of news again for a wrong cause when he crashed his car onto the pavement near the American Express bakery in Bandra, where some people were sleeping. That accident resulted in the death of a man and secere injuries to three others. And there was also a case filed by the parents of Aishwarya Rai, alleging that Salman made threats against Aishwarya's family. It was the end of Salman's relation with Aishwarya Rai which lasted about two years. On April 10, 2006, Salman was sentenced to a five year prison for hunting the endangered Chinkara and was remanded to Jodhpur jail until he was granted bail on April 13. The chances are that he would have to spend a hell lot of time in prison after he has used every arm in his store to win the verdict in favour of him. If that happens that could very probably be the end of his Bollywood career.
But when You come to the other side of salman, You would have to discover some good qualities in this supposedly arrogant actor. The people, be them from film industry or his close friends, who know him closely say he is a kind-hearted person and he frequently visits sick children in hospitals, as well as donates blood. He even shares happy moments with his young friends from the communities he visits. He is said to be moody and unpredicatable but can be very caring, protective and loving. He believes in giving chances to newcomers. Whenever he is free between shots, he spares time to listen to the scripts of newcomers. He is a very close friend to actor Sanjay Dutt and he has a good friendship with actress Sushmita Sen. He was said to have dated Sangeeta Bijlani, Somy Ali. And his affair with Aishwarya Rai is a well-known one. Salman and model-turned actress Katrina Kaif are moving very closely for the present time.
Though Salman is not supposed to be a good guy as a person, as an actor he has entertained a large number of people and won the hearts of many. Let's hope everything goes well for him and he keeps entertaining the audience for a long time.
