Candle making tips that work
Candle making is a very soothing and relaxing practice or hobby. If you are just starting out it's important that you start off experimenting without having to spend some hard earned cash. It might be something that we love or we mightn't like it at all.
So first thing to do is to put away your wallet and scratch around the house to find some ingredients. We will start off with making a basics candle first. Candle making here we come!
Here's what you'll need
* Wax ( leftover from old candles )
* Slow cooker / double boiler
* wick / Kite string works perfectly or use cotton string
* container ( small glass )
* thermometer
We might have to buy the candle or wax and thermometer if you do not have. Should not cost too much.
MAKING THE CANDLE
The first thing you need to do in this candle making process is to heat wax in the pot. It is very important that you make sure it does not heat up higher than 180. Ok, so wax is heating up now. While keeping an eye on the wax, start preparing rest of the ingredients.
Get the glass container out. Take string and cut it a bit longer than the container ( if we want your candle to light up ) ; - ) . Dip it into the melting wax a couple of times. The wax need to fix around the string.
This process is important because it'll help your candle burn better. It is called priming.
Now while wax is soft, you need to carefully steady the wick ( string ) in the container with something straight like a pencil. Start carefully pouring wax into the container, still keeping wick steady. When we pour wax in, don't fill it up.
Throw a little in and allow wax to set. This will allow wick to stay steady through process. Pour in rest. Remember wax is very hot and you should be extremely careful. Keep a little wax over to finish off candle. It's normal for candle to 'shrink' or contract as it cools down. We will need the rest of wax to fill it up. Make a few small holes near string and simply fill up the hole. Now you'll agree that candle making isn't as difficult as you might have thought.
Well, your first candle is done! How does it feel? Remember this might not be the most beautiful candle, but remember, this is the basics. There are a lot of more candle making tips we will find on my candle making website so we can take a break now or go right on to visit site.
